| Zambia and Malawi have just started
incorporating TTRS in schools and colleges. The first school is
Chilese Chepela in Zambia who have been successfully using the TTRS
course for the past 12 months thanks to Philip Campbell. Over 100
children including those in wheelchairs and others with learning
difficulties have been trained so far. As they have only one
computer and electricity is intermittent, the perseverance of both
teachers and students is remarkable. When asked about the use of the
electricity before TTRS arrived the head teacher said "that the only
thing they could do with the computer before the electricity arrived
was to polish it!”

Philip Campbell, the TTRS agent and teacher
trainer for Scotland, worked alongside World Challenge Expeditions
last year to Zambia and also this summer taking TTRS to Livingstonia
in Malawi. There he trained twelve teachers in the local technical
college. The Danish government has donated twenty state of the art
computers to the college which were then used for the TTRS course,
meeting the basic literacy skills requirements. The college now
plans to train more teachers to establish further TTRS courses in
the Northern Territory. TTRS hopes to give more needy schools and
colleges in Africa the TTRS course and Philip Campbell will be
giving more training to more teachers.
| We thank and congratulate Philip Campbell for
the development of this great initiative in Zambia and Malawi.
